Some conversations shouldn’t be this hard.

You explain yourself, but it doesn’t land. You give advice, but it doesn’t help. You avoid saying something difficult. You react before you understand. You leave a conversation realizing you missed what the other person really needed.

These aren’t always problems you can solve by becoming a better speaker.

Sometimes, you need to become a better listener.

The Listening Lab is where you practice.

Why I Created the Listening Lab

Watch this two-minute video to hear why I created the Listening Lab—and why listening is one of the most overlooked leadership skills today.

After 20 years of storytelling, I realized something.

I’ve helped leaders and organizations find clearer language for the stories that matter.

Over time, I noticed that many communication challenges weren’t only storytelling problems. They were listening problems.

People felt misunderstood. Conversations became debates. Teams struggled to think clearly together because leaders felt pressure to answer instead of creating space.

Before we can communicate with more clarity, we often need to learn to listen differently.

A place to practice listening

Not a course. Not another feed of content. A thoughtful practice space for people whose work depends on communication.

Once a month, approximately 10–12 members meet for a facilitated 90-minute Listening Lab. Members bring real conversations, leadership challenges, and stories they’re living through.

You’ll practice thoughtful questions, reflection, and deep listening—not quick advice. Between sessions, you’ll find private community, prompts, and practical resources.

“I spend so much of my life listening to everyone else. I rarely experience being listened to in this way myself.”

“I spend so much of my life listening to everyone else. I rarely experience being listened to in this way myself.”

That’s what makes the Listening Lab different.

I spend an awful lot of time listening to other people, and not a lot of time receiving the gift of listening.

Director, Learning & Culture

I’m here because I am expanding my skills very, very intently on telling stories. Telling my own story, but also listening more powerfully.

Master Certified Coach

I’m here to improve my listening. What I’m realizing is I’ve traditionally been the answer guy.

CEO & Business Owner

I noticed that my listening skills vary depending on who my audience is, and I really want to put that in check.
